Laptop or Computer Won’t shut down or sleep Issue!

Having a computer that won’t shut down or sleep could mean that there are certain complications internally. But this is a common issue which you should not worry about. Although it is frustrating to deal with another workload, it is not that hard to fix.

Below are recommended solutions should you encounter a problem like this.

Update Your Drivers

An answer to a lot of computer problems could trace back to your device drivers. Make sure that your drivers are up to date. You can either do it manually or automatically using a third-party software. However, keeping your drivers up to date could also complicate your operating system. Ensure that before installing an update, the drivers are compatible with your system.

Check Sleep Mode Settings

When your device is having an issue and won’t shut down or sleep and you are worried sick that your battery will soon drain, work on your settings. Run through an inspection on your sleep mode settings and see if any configurations are malfunctioning. 

You may as well check advanced settings and follow through the instructions on screen to double check what could have been the root of the issue.

Disable Fast Startup

If you are using Windows 10 then you should know about the Fast Startup feature. It is a command that helps your computer start up faster after shutdown. But sometimes this feature is not compatible with old software. If your PC won’t shut down or sleeps, make sure to turn off fast start up. Open the settings app and choose Power & sleep and disable feature

Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

There is no other great help than going over the Windows Update Troubleshooter to help fix your problem. Make sure to try and run the troubleshooter while following the on-screen instructions. Once you are done running the troubleshooter, complete the fixes, see if it does solve your problem.
